Since 2008, USTA Wheelchair Tennis has been a steadfast champion for the sport's development, investing over $650,000 in grassroots programs nationwide. These grants go beyond mere financial aid; they represent a strategic commitment to cultivating a thriving ecosystem for wheelchair tennis, with a particular focus on programs with an emphasis on attracting new junior players to the sport.
Grant amounts are based on each program's existing budget, as well as the future programming needs of the organization, and should assist in providing assets including coaching, court time, events (i.e., run/rolls, tournaments, camps) and equipment. The Mills Scholarship will provide $1,000 to help a worthy student offset the expenses of his or her first year of school. The awards will continue for three additional years provided the recipient remains a student in good standing, giving each scholarship a total value of $4,000. To qualify for a scholarship, students must demonstrate financial need and must have participated in tennis for at least two of their high school years, either on a school team or through tournaments, National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL), Junior Team Tennis or other USTA programs. The primary consideration in awarding the scholarships will be academic performance and potential, but community service and sportsmanship will also be considered.

Cajun Classic Wheelchair Tennis Tournament - coming soon!!
Get ready for one of the most exciting events in adaptive tennis - the Cajun Classic Wheelchair Tennis Tournament returns to Baton Rouge this March! As a proud sponsor, the USTA Louisiana are thrilled to highlight this world class event that celebrates elite athleticism and inclusive competition.
The Cajun Classic is an ITF Super Series and USTA National Level 1 event, making it one of the highest-level wheelchair tennis tournaments in the United States and one of only a handful worldwide. Each year it attracts top professional and amateur players from across the globe - including athletes who compete regularly on the UNIGLO Wheelchair Tennis Tour - as well as competitive USTA divisions and developing junior wheelchair players.
Held at the Paula G. Manship YMCA Tennis Center in Baton Rouge, the Cajun Classic showcases inspiring athleticism, fierce competition, and the spirit of adaptive sport. Wheelchair tennis follows the same rules as traditional tennis, with the ball allowed to bounce twice - and with every match, players redefine what's possible on the court.
Whether you're a longtime fan, an adaptive tennis player, or new to the sport, this event is a celebration of community, competition, and inclusion. Stay tuned for updates and how to get involved!
