5th Annual 2007 Baton
Rouge St. Jude Classic January 11 - 14, 2007
In September 2002, Megan Wilson was diagnosed with craniopharyngioma, a non-cancerous yet damaging brain tumor. After learning about St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and its radiation therapy, Megan’s family temporarily moved from Oklahoma City to Memphis, where she began a protocol that successfully reduced her tumor. As is true for all St. Jude patients, Megan has been treated free of cost, including living arrangements, meal compensation, and travel expenses for the family. Regardless of a patient’s ability to pay, St. Jude alleviates these financial burdens and eases the emotional, mental, and physical stresses associated with caring for a child’s catastrophic disease—especially far from home. The tumor has compromised Megan’s endocrine system, so she continues to receive follow-up care from the hospital. Although her condition leaves her with the probability of life-long treatment, Megan looks forward to a day when she hopes to work for St. Jude’s Child Life Department, using her love of art to help children, fighting devastating illnesses. Megan's cousin, Mike Loyd is an avid tennis player in Baton Rouge.
